Kate Middleton’s younger sister, Pippa Middleton, has sent out save-the-date cards confirming her wedding date to James Matthews.
That means we know Pippa Middleton’s wedding date!
We’re talking officially! No ifs, ands or padded butts …
Pippa will tie the knot on May 20. A glorious day.
While the “save the date” cards have gone out, few other details have – except this one that has a lot of people talking, for good reason:
Kate Middleton will NOT serve as a bridesmaid.
Pippa, of course, catapulted to worldwide fame after she wore a figure-hugging dress as a bridesmaid at her sister’s 2011 royal wedding.
It only seems fitting that the Duchess of Cambridge return the favor by acting as bridesmaid for Pippa’s wedding to the wealthy financier.
Right? Well, reports have surfaced that Pippa wants to make certain that Kate doesn’t “get her own back” on her scene-stealing role.
This isn’t actually the case, however.
For her part, Kate Middleton surely would not wish to upstage her sister on her big day, and would probably bow out of the role anyway.
The real reason she won’t be a bridesmaid, however, is much simpler, and has nothing to do with her status as future queen of England.
Unlike American customs, British tradition dictates that bridesmaids should always be unmarried as well as younger than the bride.
Catherine is 0-2 in other words.
Speaking of tradition, Pippa will tie the knot in a village church in the quaint English countryside, far from a fancy destination event.
The 33-year-old says the ceremony will take place at St Mark’s Church in Englefield, Berkshire, seven miles from her parents’ house.
That will be the site of the reception.
Lest you think that the Duchess of Cambridge will not be on hand, or sidelined altogether: She will likely serve as a reader at the ceremony.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be in the wedding in some form, too, we’re told, guaranteeing a royally memorable event.
Matthews got down on one knee during a romantic trip to England’s Lake District and proposed to Middleton on July 17 of this year.
There was talk around the tabloid world that Kate Middleton and Pippa Middleton were both pregnant, but come on people. Just come on.
As for reports that with just five months to go, Pippa is working her butt off to prepare for the wedding – in more ways than one?
That we would believe.
